ROMBO more than a small brand is a little experimentation. A reflection on a surface, the t-shirt surface; it is a wish to play with the shape, the lines, with the full and the empty, with overlaps, with the negative and the positive, with the above and below, with the rotations, the diagonals, the perpendicular and parallel with what is near and what is far away, a change from a sensation in static situation to a sensation in moving situation.

ROMBO is a small series, with five different patterns, none of which has been designed in advance but it is the random realization process that determined the final composition.

The Barcelona Shopping Night

For this year’s theme “Viva Verdi! Es lebe Wagner!” of the Barcelona shopping night we brought characters and atmospheres of the operas from Verdi in the street Passeig de Gracia to life.
Based on Verdi’s Operas there had been seven figures chosen to be made as giant masks: Alfredo, Duca, Violetta, Toreros, Trovador, Rigoletto, Gitanillas. Notched laser-cuted foil builds the massive mask fixed on a wire construction which may be carried around by person and so turn into a moving scenography.

Another character, Wotan a Scandinavian God, of the opera Valqueria by Wagner had been projected on the building Palau Robert.

As valorisation of the VIP area a golden Valhalla tree underlined through light became part of the scene.

Happiness Point
Most of people believe that happiness is an unreachable goal. We think, instead, that happiness is made of little simple things that we usually have close at hand but we don’t appreciate. Happiness is made of smiles, handshakes ,moments of sweetness , faces , eccentric actions and also childish; even a sunset or reading a book can make you feel good.
The starting point of our project is the will of doing simple actions, sometimes forgotten but that make us feel good. Acts that unhinge every kind of social conventions and move us away the opinions and judgments of other people, making them ridiculous. We want to authorize people to do actions in a public space.
The idea is to cut out some areas, little “curtigghi”, specific point where you are invited to do the acts indicated. The project is composed of:
“nice to meet you “POINT “faces “ POINT “hugs” POINT “fart” POINT
“kiss” POINT “ tickle” POINT “ringa ringa roses” POINT
These “Points” are concretely platforms of 100cm of diameter and 15cm high (only the “ringa ringa roses point” has a bigger diameter of 200cm) that lift from the floor as well as your state of mind when you do acts that give you a good mood. On every platforms is written the name of the actions that people can do with road signs composed of a sign with a pictogram. The pictograms, special categories of signs, shows a particular skill to summarize ideas and images in an original, expressive mix. Every point will be equipped with a braille translation for the blind. The happiness doesn’t know architectural barriers. The action of going up the platform makes the act dramatic and visible to all the people who pass in that moment. So each of us can became an actor who, on these little stages, acts the symptoms of happiness.
So the happiness is not dictated by a single action or a single intervention but by a group of factors and it is exactly this, the aim of our project. Through the different platforms that untangle in the public space we want to generate that group of emotions and sensations of the body and the mind that mixed together products the positive effect of comfort and fun.
Although our project is ideated in reference to spaces of the Farm, thanks to his simpleness of real - ization, it can be repeated and adapted to every kind of space or place. Finally, actions that we have identified, can be implemented with other acts, following the same logic suggested by us.

Poster per l'iniziativa internazionale di comunicazione sociale Good50x70.
Problema sociale: incidenti nucleari.

Nel primo poster è il logo stesso, e il poster dell'intera iniziativa, ad aver subito una mutazione genetica dopo un ipotetico incidente nucleare. Ironicamente siamo nel 2070 ma in realtà il messaggio, in questo suo sbalzo temporale, vuole sensibilizzare l'osservatore a riflettere su questi tipi di incidenti sottolineando che potrebbero verificarsi in qualsiasi momento e non fra un paio di decenni.

Il secondo poster, che muove dallo stesso problema sociale, crea nell'osservatore un corto circuito tra ciò che l'immagine ci mostra e ciò che il play off ci comunica.
Il messaggio è diretto, e arriva chiaro proprio per questo suo gioco di controsensi.

“PERCORSI E ATTRAVERSAMENTI - sistemi di orientamento nella Facoltà di Architettura di Palermo”

Questa tesi indaga le caratteristiche di uno spazio architettonico al fine di progettare per esso, un sistema di orientamento. Nella fattispecie ho analizzato la Facoltà di Architettura dell’Università degli Studi di Palermo.

Una struttura formalmente articolata e quasi totalmente priva di un vero e proprio sistema di orientamento. Un luogo frequentato da centinaia di studenti perennemente in transito per raggiungere i servizi che la Facoltà offre: aule, biblioteca, emeroteca, uffici ecc…, una struttura ricca e per questo complessa in cui perdersi è semplicissimo.

In questa dissertazione sono stati affrontati diversi aspetti delle problematiche legate all'orientamento in ampi spazi pubblici e sono state proposte soluzioni progettuali a partire dall'analisi degli spazi e dalla fruizione degli stessi. Una soluzione che muove da studi legati alla comunicazione visiva, alla percezione dello spazio da parte dei fruitori abituali, fino all'analisi dei flussi e delle ritualità.

La risposta progettuale che tento di fornire è il risultato dell’incontro tra comunicazione visiva (graphic design) e architettura: La segnaletica è generata in maniera completa dallo stesso contenitore e le informazioni si fanno largo sulle superfici della Facoltà, in un unicum tra informatore, informazione e informato cosicché si possa parlare di “architettura che orienta”.

Va sottolineato che un sistema di orientamento non può che essere a favore della fruizione dell’architettura, in totale sintonia, rispettoso dei luoghi e della natura di questi, mai invasivo o sovversivo.

Il risultato è quindi un sistema conforme alle spazialità architettoniche dell'edificio, di facile e immediata comprensione da parte di tutti. Risulta, pertanto, necessario conoscerne la percezione che avremo di esso. La sua funzionalità è il risultato dell’attenta lettura degli spazi, della sua storia e delle ragioni progettuali e formali, i criteri e le metodologie utilizzate dai progettisti; ma anche le ritualità, le azioni e i comportamenti generati da chi ogni giorno vive questi spazi. Solo mediante questa necessaria analisi è stato possibile formulare un progetto efficace e innovativo.
